New Anions and Cations Ion Chromatography System
The success GBC Scientific Equipment has experienced with its turn-key solutions, has lead the company on a new path toward Ion Chromatography. Recognizing an increasing demand for complete packages within this type of analysis, GBC has released a new Anions and Cations Ion Chromatography System with a capacity to analyse these analytes to low ppm concentrations. The simplicity of the system set-up enables users to adapt it to suit their Ion Chromatography application requirements.

The new Anions and Cations System contains all the HPLC components that are required to perform anion and cation Ion Chromatography analyses such as the LC1120 pump, LC1275 Conductivity detector, TC2000 Peltier Column Oven, WinChrom software, Computer, columns, buffers and standards.

Ion Chromatography is an indispensable and superior method for anion analysis. Figure 1 shows the chromatogram and the detection limits achieved using the Anion Column, the GBC LC1120 Spindle Driven Isocratic Pump, the GBC LC1275 Conductivity Detector, the GBC TC2000 Peltier Column Oven and manual injector kit. GBC’s WinChrom software was used to program the instrument parameters and collect all data.

The Anion Column allows the separation of anions within 12 minutes.

Ion chromatography is a fast and simple method for many types of cation analyses. Until recently, separating Group I and Group II cations in one isocratic run was impossible due to their widely differing retention times on sulphonic-acid cation exchangers. New carboxylic-acid functionalized cation exchangers solve this problem, separating both Group I and Group II cations in one isocratic run.

The compatibility of these columns with organic and mineral acid mobile phases addresses a wide range of applications in single column and suppressor-based Ion Chromatography modes. Figure 2 shows the chromatogram and the detection limits achieved using the Cation Column, the GBC LC1120 Spindle Driven Isocratic Pump, the GBC LC1275 Conductivity Detector, the GBC TC2000 Peltier Column Oven and manual injector kit. GBC’s WinChrom software was used to program the instrument parameters and collect all data.

The Cation Column allows the separation of cations within 16 minutes.

The system can easily be upgraded to provide complete automation simply by adding a LC1650 autosampler. For non-isocratic Ion Chromatography applications, systems can be upgraded by including the LC 1150 Quaternary pump.

back to top > New Anions and Cations—High Sensitivity Chromatography System The LC1205 is a high performance fully-featured detector for all applications requiring UV/Vis detection. It provides an extended variable wavelength selection range from 190 to 800 nm. The micro-processor controlled stepper motor permits fast and accurate wavelength switching, low-noise dual-wavelength operation and high speed "on-the-fly" spectral scanning. A wide selection of flow cells is available for analytical, bio-compatible capillary and preparative assays. Advanced features include wavelength time programming. Up to ten timed wavelength changes can be easily programmed with the method file protected in non-volatile on-board memory.
